In February 2013, DRS was sold by thelocal main owners, Proventure Seed, Salvesen & Thams and NTNU, to international mining and tunnellingsupplier Normet.

Trond Skogseth of DRS, now a director of Normet’s Rock Reinforcement business line, is very excited aboutbeing selected to represent Norway in the prestigious EBA Awards: “It’s a great honour to be recognized bythe European Business Awards for what we have achieved since our inception in 2009. The internationalmining industry is a challenging playing field for a small start-up like DRS but, with a superb product, thebacking of NTNU and patient investors, and a motivated and experienced global team, we have been able tobuild something that has increased the safety and efficiency level in mines all over the world. The EBArecognition is a good motivation to continue the work and bring our products to new mining markets”.

The European Business Awards is dedicated to raising the visibility and progress of companies who excel indelivering innovation twinned with successful commercial results while acting responsibly and positivelyaffecting the social environment in which they operate. Last year’s competition saw entries fromorganizations with a combined turnover of over €1 trillion euros across the 28 EU countries, plus emergingnations (8.23% of EU GDP including Turkey, Armenia, Georgia and Kazakhstan). Together these businessesemploy over 2.7 million people across the continent.

Adrian Tripp, CEO of the European Business Awards says, “Over the past seven years we’ve received an incredibly high standard of entries from organizations that are passionate about their business. However, very few get the chance to fly the flag for their country and compete across Europe to be recognized as one of Europe’s finest. It really is an exceptional accolade to be picked as a National Champion and, together with our sponsors and supporters, we’re looking forward to seeing Dynamic Rock Support in the next round.” Jean Stephens, CEO of RSM adds, “The National Champions have yet again raised the bar for dynamic, inspiring and quality businesses across Europe. We wish them every success for the next stage of the competition, which this year includes an exciting two-phase video voting round.” To advance in the competition this year, all National Champions have to submit a video entry for viewing and assessment by a judging panel. In addition, the public will also be able to vote online for their favourite National Champion from each country. These companies will become ‘National Public Champions’ and one will go on to be the ‘European Public Champion’. Voting begins in November 2013.
